It works very well and stays on through thick and thin. You still tan through it but never burn and that's so important in this day and age. I send a monthly chicks-picks to my girl friends and this was at the top of the list for upcoming summer and springbreaks this month. Going on it feels like you are coating yourself with a layer of wax or something heavy, but that feeling goes away as quickly as it dries, which is pretty darn quick. Once on, it will guard you from getting burned for quite some time and doesn't rub off at all. It's the best I've found.
